The ceramics we use at NaNum are all made by Kim Jinok, they are baked at over 1.230°c, are waterproof and can be put in a dishwasher. The earthenware that you see photographed here, is a collection that has been gradually growing since 2011. This is however, a mere snippet of the ~1000 (and counting) strong selection of unique pieces.

From lumps of clay and without a potter’s wheel in sight, each item has been hand-crafted. Ceramic making is ancient and physical – a truly primal activity.

The inspiration behind the ceramics comes as much from European as it does Korean pottery traditions. After quite some experimentation, trial and of course error, a very personal and minimalistic style has emerged.

Most of the Earthenware have just been glazed on the inside and then baked at extremely high temperatures. The finished vessel, with its rugged exterior, is pleasant and practical to hold. The thickness of the material, once warm, also insulates heat quite efficiently.

Kim Jinok created NaNum’s very own ceramics, in which food and drinks are served. For different dishes, a whole variety of plates, bowls and platters have been designed.

If you have any queries or are interested in purchasing any items, please contact us, we would be happy to inform you further.

If you climb the stairs to the studio, you will find a constantly changing exhibition of finished ceramic works on the surrounding gallery. Two tables of the restaurant are also placed there, somewhat separately.
